Family is part of the foundation of Livia. And that can take many forms, be it heritage, community or those closest to us. Both Claire and Jordan chose Livia’s focus to be a celebration of their ancestral background, taking their family and sharing it with their community; extending it to those around them. Though inspired by each of their heritages, Italian and Portuguese, they also wanted to support and give back to local businesses and that same community. The menu and ethos of Livia is based on their European roots, but they have tailored and evolved these origins to create something unique that utilizes seasonal, local goods and producers. Combining the old world with the new. With this in mind, I hoped to do the same with my wine list; stay true to Livia’s heritage, but also gain inspiration through contemporary taste and quality expression. Whether this means featuring a local BC winery highlighting Portuguese or Italian varietals, or seeking new, interesting wines from Claire and Jordan’s ancestral countries. Like Livia, the list will be constantly evolving, focused on seasonality and building relationships with communities, here and elsewhere. Taking elements from different versions of family and creating a new one.
